The Pyramid of Skulls was created by Paul Cezanne. He was a French painter known for his highly influential work with his unique form, color, and composition. He was very influential to other artists of his time and after. He most commonly did still lifesm portraits, landscapes and specifically lots of fruit and skulls. ALthough these are separate pieces technically, I thought I could better portray his work in this piece. According to aplacebetweenthetrees.com he said; “How beautiful a skull is to paint!” it is possible that Cézanne was drawn to skulls as a subject for his work as a volumetric form; much in the same way he was drawn to painting fruit and vases in some of his other most famous works. The skulls in these paintings seem to jump out at the viewer in an almost three dimensional effect."
Plan: First I sculpted the 3 heads making the bottom two more simular and changing the top one slightly. Then I shaped the fruit and slipped and scored all the pieces together. Then I fired it and glazed it but I forgot to take a picture
Reflection: First off the reason I chose this piece because I liked the detention and the possibilities to this piece encourperating the still life with the skulls. I think that this turned out exactly how I wanted it and I glazed it and it also looks good like that I'm excited to see it out of the kyln.
